Grocery stores offer special hours for seniors, vulnerable customers

New Mexico’s Aging and Long Term Services Department have announced the community partners throughout the state who are assisting senior and vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participating stores include:

Smith’s: Opening early from 7 to 8 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 60 years of age and older. Pickup fees waived for seniors.

Walmart: Stores will open one hour early Tuesdays only through April 28 for those 60 years of age or older.

Target: Stores will open one hour early Wednesdays only for those individuals who are elderly or have underlying health conditions.

Dollar General: Opening one hour early for seniors every day.

Albertsons and Safeway: Store will open from 7 to 9 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays for seniors and at-risk populations.

Big Lots: Reserving first hour of every day for seniors and those most vulnerable to COVID-19 virus.
