Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County names new executive director

Page Coleman to take over for Jessica Jones

Habitat for Humanity announced Page Coleman will serve as the organization’s new executive director.

Coleman stepped into the role Nov. 1, replacing predecessor Jessica Jones, who has served in the position since February 2023. Jones is leaving the position to move closer to family. She has been training Coleman throughout the transition.

Coleman told the The Durango Herald she was drawn to Habitat for Humanity because of its mission to provide decent, stable housing to those who need it.

“Everyone should have attainable homeownership – that’s a basic human need, right?” Coleman said. “It’s definitely the mission that brings me to Habitat.”

Jones told the Herald that Habitat for Humanity is excited to welcome Coleman to the role.

“She's super ambitious. She’s definitely going to be a great leader for the position,” Jones said. “I’m excited to hand it off to her, and I feel good about how I’m leaving things. It’s nice to be here, to be able to train her, to get her ready for that. She’s going to be wonderful.”

Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County, an independently funded affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, builds and sells homes to local families in need of affordable housing, according to the organization’s website.

Coleman, originally from Dallas, touts 12 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She began her career as a case manager working with foster children in Dallas. She continued her involvement with nonprofit work after moving to Durango seven years ago, and most recently served as human resources manager and later general manager at the Tamarron Association of Condominium Owners.

In her new role, Coleman intends to focus on expanding Habitat La Plata’s reach and impact, increasing the number of families served through new home builds and repair programs, strengthening partnerships with local organizations and donors, and growing the organization’s volunteer base. She said she also hopes to enhance transparency, efficiency and long-term sustainability.

In the release, Coleman said she is honored to continue serving La Plata County residents in a new capacity.

“Habitat’s work is about more than building homes – it’s about building hope, stability, and opportunity,” Coleman said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners to expand that impact.”
