Registration for the Steamworks half marathon, which is set to return Saturday after a two-year hiatus, will close at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

Runners interested in participating can register at https://runsignup.com/Race/CO/Durango/steamworkshalf. The race will be capped at 300 runners.

This year’s race aims to feature and enhance relationships with the Fort Lewis College Athletics and a new partnership with the Durango Running Co., the latter of which has stepped to be a sponsor and organizer for the event.

“Proceeds from the race will be directed toward the Memorial Marc Witkes Scholarship Fund, which directly benefits the athletes of the FLC cross-country team,” said Brett Sublett, owner of the Durango Running Co.

Additional sponsors this year include Mercy Sports Medicine and HomeSlice Pizza.

This year, all racers must also show proof of vaccination at packet pick up to participate. The packet pickup will occur from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Durango Running Co., 473 E. College Drive.

The walkers will start the half marathon at 7:15 a.m. Saturday with the runners taking off at 8 a.m.

The race begins at Baker’s Bridge, runs through Animas Valley on La Plata County Road 250 and ends at the Durango Sports Club.
