I am writing this letter in support of Charles Hamby for La Plata County Sheriff. Charles began his law enforcement career in Texas in 1988 where he worked as a patrol officer in city and county offices. He moved to Durango in 2001 and applied for a job as deputy. I immediately hired him.
Charles had a great record as a law enforcement officer, he presented an imposing physical appearance,and he presented himself as a true gentleman.
Within three years, Charles had risen to the rank of Sergeant. He continued to work for the La Plata County sheriff until 2015, when he left for a position with a large federal agency. Within four years, Charles had risen to the rank of captain at this federal agency.
Charles is a highly experienced law enforcement officer, a loving husband with a beautiful family, and he is impeccably honest. I would urge everyone who desires to have efficient, effective law enforcement to vote for Charles in the upcoming election. He is a leader who has the respect of his fellow officers and will truly protect La Plata County.
