Has it come to this?

I visited a friend today in Forest Lakes who informed me that a couple of his political signs had been stolen. Not that unusual, as these days political ideology seems to be an acceptable rationale for many things, including ignoring the 8th Commandment. What struck me is that one sign said “Veterans for Harris.” Veterans. Someone knowingly stole from a veteran? My friend not only served in the military but went on to continue serving through a career in law enforcement.

There is, of course, the irony that we all have the right to vote for the politician of our choice because of the commitment and service of our veterans, past and present. But how can you have such a complete lack of respect and gratitude for the very people who make your political choices and your freedom possible? For all I know, the perpetrator received a high-five and clap on the back upon returning home with such a prize. I guess I’m only left to join the celebration. Congratulations. You’ve officially won the race to the bottom of the decency barrel.
