’Hawks lacrosse picked 3rd in first RMAC poll

Ally Kvidera and Fort Lewis College women’s lacrosse were picked to finish third in the inaugural Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. Kvidera made the preseason All-RMAC team.

Lindenwood University ruled the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason awards.

The St. Louis school was selected first place in the conference with five of the six first-place votes, while Lions’ Shelby Polk was named Preseason Player of the Year and Christine Heymeyer the Preseason Goalie of the Year.

Regis finished second in the coaches’ poll and had two players selected for preseason honors.

Sierra Perrella was selected the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Danica Cutshall the Preseason Midfielder of the Year, both with the Rangers.

Fort Lewis College was voted third in the coaches’ poll and put three players on the preseason All-RMAC team, tied with Lindenwood for second behind Regis’ four selections.

Skyhawks’ Ally Kvidera, Jessica Norby and Brooke Wineland made the All-RMAC team after scoring eight, 22 and 15 goals, respectively, last season.

Colorado Mesa, Adams State and Rockhurst rounded out the coaches’ poll voting in fourth through sixth place.

This is the first year the RMAC has sponsored women’s lacrosse.

FLC, which is entering its sixth season of women’s college lacrosse, previously competed in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

The Skyhawks will open their season at against Colorado Mesa on Feb. 22 in Grand Junction. They will play their first home game against Rockhurst on March 17.
