In 1920, H.L. Mencken wrote, “on some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”
A 104 years ago, Mr. Mencken was right, but not just any moron. A guy who is a criminal, a grifter, a misogynist, a racist and he tried to overthrow the government. That’s just to name a few disqualifying things that should have eliminated him from consideration for any position, let alone the presidency.
Since he never conceded defeat in 2020, in his mind he was still president, he should have been constitutionally denied the right to run for a third term in 2024. Of course, the rules don’t apply to him. He gets away with everything. He should be in jail.
Shame on us.
