I am writing to object to the headline you put on a story (Herald, Feb. 16) about DUI arrests: “Eleven DUI arrests come during Snowdown weekend.” That made it seem like Snowdown was to blame.
Snowdown is a multi-day event. This year, it ran from Feb. 1 until Feb. 5, but your story was about DUI arrests from Feb. 3 through Feb. 6 – hardly Snowdown. But the Superbowl was definitely right in the middle of those days.
Snowdown has worked diligently and responsibly to separate itself from and to discourage alcohol abuse, featuring even more family-friendly, no-alcohol events this year, but do you give credit where credit is due? No! The Herald used a misleading headline on a story that was not about Snowdown.
That headline belonged in the Snowdown Sneer.
