Health care for all is not a pipe dream

Imagine living in the richest country in the world and not having to worry about medical bills and health insurance premium payments.

A pipe dream? It doesn’t have to be.

According to T.R. Reid in The Healing of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Switzerland and Germany are among the many developed countries in the world that provide basic health care coverage for every resident, old, young, rich, poor and the sick regardless of race or religious affiliation.

They spend considerably less and produce better results than we do in the U.S. in terms of national health and longevity. And, people in these countries don’t go bankrupt from unpaid medical bills or hesitate to see a doctor because they can’t afford the service or potential surgery.

The U.S. health care system is broken and unaffordable and it’s time to fix it. There are options and solutions, including Medicare for all.
