Health care should not be profit-driven

Certain things should not be run by private, for-profit businesses: war, prisons and health care (just like schools, post office, fire and police). When we put a for-profit business in charge of these items, money becomes the driving force. I see a need for car insurance, home insurance, etc., but why should corporations make billions a year off the backs of sick people in need of help, operations, medicine; children who are sick, anyone who is sick? If these billions of dollars of profits were taken out of the equation, it would pay for everyone’s premiums and the majority of the health care itself!

Not only do we allow all this, the corporations are consistently paying off congressmen, making it even more profitable for them and more expensive for the consumers/patients – with less care. Health care should be rewarded for making patients better. Health care should be motivated to improve everyone’s health and rewarded accordingly. Health care should not be motivated and rewarded with million-dollar bonuses based upon how many claims were denied and profit margins – the bottom line!

How do we allow all this to happen right under our noses?
