Health department offers pet preparedness tips

For Pet Preparedness Month, San Juan Basin Public Health is reminding residents to have an emergency kit ready for their four-legged loved ones.

Emergency supplies should include:

A three-day supply of food and water. Medicines and medical records.Important documents (registration information, microchipping and adoption papers and vaccination documents).First-aid kit, including a pet first-aid reference book.Collar or harness with ID tag, rabies tag and a leash.Crate or pet carrier. Sanitation supplies (litter and litter box, newspapers, paper towels, plastic trash bags and household chlorine bleach).A picture of you and your pet together in case of separation. Familiar items.
