Heart Safe La Plata, in association with American Safety & Health Institute, is now offering a way to recertify CPR skills using live videoconferencing.
People who are currently certified in CPR may take the online course on their own schedule and pace. Those who have never been certified or whose certification has experience are not eligible. Heart Safe La Plata will deliver disinfected manikins and supplies to the participant’s location.
Then, using video conferencing through the AHSI website, instructors will offer live, online remote skills verification. Students benefit from real-time feedback and guidance from instructors to correctly demonstrate required skills and complete their certification. Certification cards are issued electronically and arrive by email.
Because of the additional setup involved, the minimum group is six students at a price of $75 per student. Students may complete online course work and live videoconferencing from their own homes, subject to the availability of the manikins and supplies. It is not necessary to gather the students together.
Heart Safe La Plata hopes to add live video conferencing for basic first aid recertification in the future.
