Herald can’t fool board on Snowberger

I have written previously about the biased and unprofessional Herald coverage of the recent Dan Snowberger/School District 9-R issues. I argued that the media should let the 9-R board do its job without sensationalist and one-sided news coverage. Unfortunately, that has not occurred in the most recent, Jan. 23, coverage of the school board meeting [“

The sub-headline of the story says, “School principals express support for Snowberger.” And the article follows that “all 11 principals in School District 9-R joined in support of Superintendent Dan Snowberger.” But, beyond comprehension, the article then quotes only one of the principals and none of the supportive citizens, and goes on, in depth, to recite the anonymous criticisms and unverified claims that the Herald has published numerous times in the past. What kind of journalism is this?

I realize that the Herald needs to defend its prior actions, by continually repeating questionable, if not blatantly unsupported, allegations. But enough is truly enough when it comes to this unwarranted attack on Superintendent Snowberger and the 9-R board.

Fortunately, the school board has seen through this intimidation tactic, and has not blocked the superintendent’s contract extension. It has done its job. Perhaps the Herald will follow suit.
