Today marks the launch of The Durango Herald’s first weekend edition, and a new print publication schedule.
The Herald will publish on three weekdays – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – and its weekend edition will be delivered and in stands on Saturday morning.
The newsroom will continue to cover stories seven days a week, and news will be posted as we get it on our website, durangoherald.com.
Here are a few of the biggest changes:
The Southwest Life section has moved to the weekend and will continue to showcase environment, health and family features as well as readers’ favorite columnists, community news, Ann Butler’s Neighbors column and regional features. The Wednesday Business pages have merged with the Sunday Real Estate section to become the weekend Business and Real Estate section. Readers will find news about local businesses and the people who run them, real estate and consumer news and local columnists.Outdoors, too, has joined the weekend lineup as part of the Sports section and will offer features and stories on seasonal activities year-round.Watch for ICYMI and “more online” boxes that will help you find online stories, photo galleries and videos. Also, lottery results from Friday’s games will appear on the weather page of the weekend edition, which is on the last page of the B section. Today, that’s Page 6B.In Monday’s paper, readers will find a new weekly calendar with government and public meetings and other significant upcoming public events, and the weekend edition will feature a new “don’t miss” calendar with a handful of weekend events. We’d love to hear your feedback – we’ll be watching for comments online or you can email Interim Senior Editor Sue McMillin at smcmillin@durangoherald.com and put “feedback” in the subject line.
