The Herald displayed poor judgment in printing the article titled “A Loose Bannon” written by Alexandra Petri of The Washington Post (Herald, Aug. 19).
Instead of factual news, it sank to name calling and sarcasm. The low point was “someone evicted the rat-king, when you can see full well that ‘someone’ is just a tangle of cockroaches hissing to themselves ...”
Really? I’m no fan of Steve Bannon, but is this what passes for journalism these days? Vitriol like that does not qualify as news and displays poor taste.
It was printed under the title of “Analysis,” but I saw no reasoning in it. Emotional rants like this may help the writer feel better, but certainly don’t help media credibility.
The ever-shrinking Herald should adhere to a higher standard even if The Washington Post does not.
