With sadness, we will see The Durango Herald go from daily to four days a week. As someone who has lived in Durango off and on since 1967, it feels like the Herald is going back in time. However, journalism has taken on more urgent importance this year.
We rely on journalists to give full reports that show the truth of politics, the world and our lives. My hope is that the Herald, even with the reduced print publications, will continue to provide the important stories about Durango, La Plata County and the four corners region.
A free press is key to the success of democracy. We trust that the Herald will hold a high standard.
I look forward to four mornings a week spent with a cup of coffee and the Herald in hand. Thanks for years of good news reporting.
