Herald’s front page earns Top 10 vote

The Durango Herald’s Page 1A on Tuesday with images of kids’ first day back to school grabbed the attention of front page-watchers at the Newseum, a Washington, D.C.-based news museum. Each day, Newseum puts online front pages of more than 800 newspapers from around the world. The gallery is called “Today’s Front Pages.” Also each day, the Newseum selects the Top 10 front pages.

Tuesday’s Top 10 picks had a back-to-school theme. The Herald’s photos of students in elementary, middle and high schools, along with its “day-in-a-life” story fit the bill. Other papers among the Top 10 for the day were The Decatur Daily (Alabama); Times Daily (Alabama); The Baxter Bulletin (Arkansas); Pensacola News Journal (Florida); The Frederick News-Point (Maryland); The Lake Sun (Missouri); Weatherford Daily News (Oklahoma); Herald Journal (South Carolina); and The Spokesman-Review (Washington).
