With the Colorado High School Activities Association releasing the football all-state teams, now is a good time to look at which Ignacio and Bayfield athletes were awarded a coveted all-state team spot. Here is a list of the IHS and BHS fall sports all-state award recipients:

Bayfield:

Lincoln Williams: The two-way football star earned every bit of his 2A second team all-state award for the Wolverines in his senior season. Williams led his team in receiving yards, rushing yards, total touchdowns, tackles and interceptions as they finished the season 4-5 and 1-4 in the 2A Intermountain League. Williams’ eight interceptions ranked fifth in Colorado, regardless of classification.

Ayden Casillas: The junior forward was a 3A soccer honorable mention and was the most valuable player for Bayfield boys soccer this season. He led his team in points with a whopping 53 points from 23 goals and seven assists; the rest of the Wolverines’ roster combined for 60 on the season. His 23 goals ranked 15th in the state across all classifications and he was 17th in points. BHS finished their season 8-7-1 and finished second in the 3A Intermountain League with a 4-2 record.

Tanna Owens: The senior setter earned her 3A volleyball honorable mention by leading her team in assists with 482 (over 150 more than Bayfield’s second-place setter). Owens also had the second-most digs on her team, with a solid 280. The Wolverines finished the season 16-11 and took second in the 3A Intermountain League with a 5-3 league record.

Ignacio:

Kelly Sirios: The multitalented sophomore not only led her team in assists with 442, but she also had the most digs (260), on top of being a deadly server with a team-leading 67 aces. Sirios was an honorable mention selection for 2A. IHS had a 15-10 record on the season and finished second in the 2A/1A San Juan Basin League.

Ignacio's James Martin (162) and Trace Crane (163) finished first and second in the 2024 Ignatius Invitational's high-school boys' race on Aug. 27 in Ignacio. (Joel Priest/file photo)

Trace Crane: The junior speedster finished his cross country season strong, leading his team to a state meet qualification and finishing 30th out of 144 competitors in the 2A boys race, earning an all-state honorable mention. Crane finished in 17 minutes and 50.6 seconds at the state meet, about 40 seconds ahead of the second-place Bobcat runner.
