The 16th annual Bayfield Heritage Days & Sheep Trailing was a great success. Thanks to J. Paul Brown and family for bringing one of their sheep flocks through on schedule for spectators, and thanks to Jean Brown for being our parade Grand Marshal. Thanks to all the other paraders as well.
Special thanks to the Bayfield branch of First National Bank of Durango and the Patio Restaurant in Ignacio for donating the prize money for our Blue Ewe contest, so all the ticket sale money can go to assist local kids from struggling families, and for maintenance expenses for the local Disabled American Veterans van that takes vets to the VA hospital in Albuquerque several times a week.
Thanks to Bob and Kathy Worley and the Bar-D Wranglers for entertaining again at the Heritage Day kick-off. Thanks to Callie Young and Coyote Circus for providing the entertainment in Joe Stephenson Park after the sheep and the parade. Thanks to Mini Merc and AJ's Pizza for donating pizza gift cards as prizes for the pie eating, gummi worm and mummy wrap contests.
Thanks to our Rotary Club, Lions Club, Pine River Heritage Society and Bayfield Chamber of Commerce members who organized the events and made them happen. These fun community events don't happen by themselves.
