A Durango man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for dealing heroin.
Jonathan Huehl, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of heroin, a felony, in a plea agreement with the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
He was arrested earlier this year after selling heroin on multiple occasions to an undercover agent with the Southwest Drug Task Force.
Huehl was selling the drug while living at Spanish Trails Inn & Suites, 3141 Main Ave. in Durango, said deputy District Attorney Reid Stewart.
His sales were linked to one person in Durango who overdosed on the drug, Stewart said. The person didn’t die from the overdose, he said.
“If you’re dealing drugs in our community, there’s a likely chance that you’re going to be sentenced to the Department of Corrections,” Stewart said.
The task force, using a confidential informant and an undercover officer, made several purchases from Huehl in late 2012 and early 2013.
Pat Downs, director of the task force, said he’s pleased with the 10-year prison sentence.
“Heroin use and distribution in our community is not going to be tolerated,” he said. “We’re going to do whatever we can to prevent that.”
