FLC center again wins RMAC Player of the Week honors
Fort Lewis College senior center Alex Herrera averaged 25 points per game in a pair of wins last week at home. On Tuesday, he was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, his 11th such honor from the conference.

The two-time defending Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year is 2-for-2 this season in player of the week honors.

Alex Herrera, the Fort Lewis College center and Ignacio High School alumnus, followed his RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honor in Week 1 with an RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honor in Week 2. They are Herrera’s 11th RMAC player of the week honors.

In two home wins last week for the undefeated Skyhawks, Herrera averaged 25 points per game, 11.5 rebounds, seven blocks and two steals per game against Eastern New Mexico and Northern New Mexico.

Against Eastern N.M., Herrera was 7-for-10 from the floor, 7-for-11 from the free throw line, and he finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, seven blocks and two steals.

Against Northern N.M., Herrera was 10-for-15 from the floor, 9-for-11 from the free throw line, and he finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks and three assists.

Herrera finished the week 68 percent (17-for-25) from the floor and 72.7 percent (16-for-22) from the free throw line.

FLC (4-0) will play MidAmerica Nazarene on Friday in Golden, then will play UC-San Diego on Saturday in Golden.
