Hillary a hypocrite on women’s rights

I want to give high marks to Edmund Andersson for his letter headlined “Clinton belongs in jail, not White House” (Herald, May 6). Also, I want to add a note highlighting Hillary Clinton’s hypocrisy in her advocacy of women’s rights.

Though we don’t see it highlighted much, the foundation that the Clintons run accepts huge donations from the royal family of Saudi Arabia – a fundamentalist Sunni state where any advanced notions of female rights run diametrically counter to the principles of Wahhabism, which form the basis of Sharia Law.

Apparently, sometime ago, Clinton chastised the royal family for its brutal practice of honor killings against Saudi women. Apparently, too, the new king, Salman, has responded to her concerns. In the case of a Saudi woman who has disgraced her family, the practice of whomping her over the head with a shovel and burying her alive in the desert has been replaced by a more kindly protocol. Now, the offending lady is led onto the diving board of a swimming pool, with a weight tied to her legs and with the members of the disgraced family acting as spectators. Then, the “guilty” lady is pushed off the board into the pool, where she (of course) drowns.

I suppose King Salman’s reforms in the matter of honor killings has satisfied Bill and Hillary sufficiently to conscience their acceptance of contributions from the royal family to their foundation.

And an additional point: Hillary once stated that Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest sponsors of Sunni extremist terrorism. Additionally, the legal action by the families of the Sept. 11 attack against the royal family has been re-instated and is moving ahead.

So let’s have a sound sitrep on Hillary. A criminal? We’ll see. A patent hypocrite? Already made evident!
