Hillcrest Golf Club will close for the season on Sunday, the club’s management announced in an email late Tuesday.
“In an effort to help preserve the course for the 2015 golf season, we opted to close for the remainder of the year after (Sunday),” said an email message signed by Grounds Superintendent Ken Kirby and Golf Professional John Vickers.
“We want to thank you all for a very successful golfing season and look forward to another great year in 2015. If (when) the snow falls this winter, we hope to open for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We will keep you posted.”
Hillcrest, a public, 18-hole golf course adjacent to Fort Lewis College, will have a sale through Sunday on all golf shop merchandise.
Hillcrest typically reopens in March as soon as the snow melts off the course.
