Hillyer selected for All-State volleyball

Foutz will join 3A coaches

Already honored with a Colorado Coaches of Girls' Sports All-State nomination, Bayfield senior Kirstie Hillyer was chosen this week by the Colorado High School Coaches Association to play in its 59th annual volleyball All-StategGames.

The games will be held June 9-13 at Adams State University in Alamosa. The Wolverine middle will be joined by BHS head coach Terene Foutz on the Class 3A roster. Hillyer played at the CCGS event on Nov. 16 at Arvada High School in Denver.

Crucial to BHS' 23-4 record and state championship berth this fall, the 6'6" Hillyer finished her prep career with an awesome 1,101 kills at a .418 rate, 349 total blocks (184 solo), 185 digs and 151 service aces. Of her 102 total rejections in 2014, an impressive 71 were of the solo sort. This season, she totaled 377 kills at an outstanding .499 efficiency.

Hillyer, the daughter of Rich and Laura Hillyer, signed to play at Colorado State University earlier this month.
