If you're looking for Santa Claus this weekend or next in the Pine River Valley, you don't have to go far.
The big guy in red is set to appear at a variety of Christmas events this month, starting tonight in Ignacio. Holiday events throughout the area are listed below:
TONIGHT
.Ignacio Taste of Christmas, 5 to 7 p.m. Ignacio Community Library. Free.
.Fill Your Bowl for Art, 5 to 8 p.m. tonight, Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center. Soup supper, breads and desserts. Live music by Chokecherry Jam and holiday arts market featuring local artisans. $10 for adults, $5 for children, and $5 for a handcrafted ceramic bowl, 563-4600.
SATURDAY, DEC. 6
.Visits with Santa Claus at Lewis True-Value Mercantile, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free photos!
.Bayfield Old-Fashioned Christmas, 4 to 6 p.m., old BMS gym on South Street. Free red and green chili, cookies, nachos and hot chocolate. Stocking giveaways, photos with Santa, cookie decorating, face painting, bouncy house. Free, but donations are accepted for the Bayfield Food Bank. Two cans of food can be exchanged for one raffle ticket for a stocking, to a maximum of 10 tickets, or $2 per ticket, 884-9544.
SUNDAY, DEC. 7
Night in Bethlehem, 3 to 5 p.m., Calvary Presbyterian Church in downtown Bayfield. Visitors will experience a night in a Bethlehem market during the time of Christ, complete with a live nativity, bread baker, spice shop, fisher's pier, toy shop, census taker's office and other family activities. Events all weekend long around the lake.
FRIDAY, Festival of Trees Home Tour, $10 per person, buy tickets at the Hideaway.
SATURDAY, pancake breakfast and dog sled rides, 9-11 a.m. at the Lake House, snowshoe race at 10 a.m., poker run at 5:30 p.m.
Movie and popcorn, 6 p.m. at Vallecito Church.
Ugly sweater contest, 9 p.m. at the Lake House.
SUNDAY, pancake breakfast at the Hideaway, 9 to 11 a.m., SWAG train, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids ornaments, 11 a.m., snowman building, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pub crawl at Pura Vida, 1 p.m.
