How does Mercy expect to pull this off?

“Mercy Regional Medical Center will now be even more closely connected to the specialized services, technology and expertise of Colorado’s largest health care system,” says Catholic Health Initiatives on the Mercy website.

It’s lofty, but what I can’t understand is how Mercy will benefit from that in this growing community by cutting staff, including specialists in pulmonary, cardiac, GI and other vital areas.

How do the people who gave so generously to build the hospital in 2006 feel?

What I see and hear about is almost 10 years of MBAs running the show with less and less input from medical professionals while siphoning off resources to help other hospitals.

How long can the devoted, hard-working and compassionate people who are Mercy stand up to this onslaught? How will high standards be maintained?
