Shame on those elected officials who refuse to act on gun violence!
Sadly, the scenario is all too familiar: another senseless killing spree, condolences expressed and inaction on the measures that could prevent such tragedies. Scientific data has clearly shown that possession of a firearm (especially a pistol) in the home for the purpose of self-defense leads not to greater safety, but to greater risk of homicide, suicide and accidental injury or death.
Are your “Second Amendment rights” worth the life of one innocent person? One is far safer in this respect, living in a country that closely regulates possession of firearms than in the U.S. As a lifetime hunter, I have no difficulty whatsoever in abiding by laws that limit the possession of weapons designed for the killing of other people to those who need them in their work (law enforcement and military service) and are well-trained in their use.
Just how many innocent people have to die before preventive measures are taken?
