Donald J. Trump will take the oath of office as the 45th president of the United States on Friday morning.
The inauguration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Mountain time, with the inaugural parade at 1 p.m.
All major news networks will broadcast the event, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CNN. YouTube will live-stream the event online, as will the White House website, www.whitehouse.gov.
In Durango, the La Plata County Republican Party will hold a party beginning at 5 p.m. Friday at the Elks Lodge, 901 East 2nd Ave.
In Cortez, the Montezuma County Republican Central Committee plans a party from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Elks lodge, 2100 Dolores Road. It costs $10 per person. For more information, call 565-2197.
Fort Lewis College students intend to walk out of class in protest at 10:15 a.m. Friday and plan to meet in front of the Reed Library.
On Saturday, several local groups are planning events in solidarity with the Women’s March on Washington.
The Montezuma Alliance For Unity plans a march starting at the Cortez Welcome Center at noon.
In Dolores, the march in Washington will be live-streamed at the Dolores River Brewery starting at 7:45 a.m.
