Here’s some food for thought: No matter what your reason for signing the recall petition, you have rights in the event you have signer’s remorse. You may rescind your signature! If you feel you have been deceived, or if you feel your signature on this recall petition was not adequately thought out, you may rescind your signature by following the steps specified in C.R.S. 1-12-108(9)(d)(I).
Contact Tiffany Parker’s office and let her know you signed but want to rescind your signature. Your request must be in writing and must be done before the petition is deemed sufficient. You must also deliver a copy of your request to rescind your endorsement of the petition to the committee supporting the petition.
You can get that contact information from Tiffany’s office. If you do it by mail, your request is considered effective on the date of your postmark. Don’t forget to send a copy of your letter to the committee supporting the recall. Make sure they are copied on your letter to Tiffany Parker.
You should do this quickly. The petitioners have until March 30 to submit their signatures. Shortly thereafter, if appropriate, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office will certify sufficiency. You must request the striking of your signature before then.
If this goes through, we’re going to end up spending $60,000 of taxpayer money for a recall election for someone who has already served six of her possible eight years. That’s a poor investment for the people of our county.
