Marshall Fire investigators have located the partial human remains of an adult, according to an announcement Wednesday from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
The remains were found in the 5900 block of Marshall Road in unincorporated Boulder County.
Sheriff Joe Pelle had said as of Sunday that two people were reported missing. Investigators are also searching an area in the 1500 block of S. 76th Street in Superior.
The Marshall Fire started on Dec. 30 in an area, according to authorities, around the 5000 block of Eldorado Springs Drive, east of the Eldorado Springs community. The remains appear to have been found several thousand feet east of the suspected fire origin.
The fire was propelled by winds of up to 100 mph. It burned more than 6,000 acres and destroyed about 1,000 homes in Superior and Louisville.
An investigation into the fire’s cause is being conducted.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has yet to identify the remains or announce the cause and manner of death.
