Hundreds of thousands have had enough

I wrote this to Rep. Scott Tipton on March 24:

This is an historic day. Many hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens have had enough of the gun violence in this country. We have also had enough of those in government who continue to support the NRA and any laws or legislation that permits the manufacture, sale and use of assault-style weapons of any kind. We know that you know the NRA is a lobby for the gun manufacturers, plain and simple. What is the point of permitting the manufacture and sale of weapons to the public whose only purpose is to kill people?

This issue comes down to values, Mr. Tipton. Do you value your or anyone’s right to have such a weapon because you think without it you might lose the right to have a hunting rifle? You value this right over the rights of children to attend school without fear? Seriously?

Think about it. For those of us who value a society that prioritizes collective safety over personal, individual rights to own such weapons, November 2018 and 2020 cannot come soon enough.
