Rep. Jeff Hurd finally did something to make me proud of him. I have written him over 100 emails and have received many somewhat personalized responses. I started writing to him near Easter when he spoke of religion; I jumped on it by writing frequently that God gave him a brain and he should use it. He recently joined a vote to save affordable health care, and he went against the majority of the House, Mike Johnson, and Trump. We need this!
I have been concerned that he would not show leadership, honesty or concern for his constituents. Beyond health care, we all have concern for the Constitution and separation of powers, and finally the Senate has shown some interest in reasserting their powers over the executive branch – let us hope that Hurd will support it when it comes to the House. He did write, “I also am committed to conducting oversight of the Executive Branch no matter which political party is in power.” This is important as Trump wants to destroy the Federal Reserve System, build U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, support Putin and invade more countries.
Another indication that Hurd might be seeing right from wrong is what he wrote in his newsletter about the unjustified POTUS rejection to fund the Arkansas Valley water project.
I present this with hopes that readers who have missed these facts open their eyes to the corruption in government and realize that we need them to correct the corruption and lack of leadership.
