Recently I went to visit a friend in Animas Surgical Hospital. When I entered, I felt empty inside. It was the first time I had been there since Mike Jones died.
He had worked there for the past several years. Mike never failed to lift up my spirits, making me feel happier after chatting with him.
I first met Mike after my daughter was born, more than 30 years ago. She spent the first month of her life in Mercy Hospital’s nursery connected to life by several tubes and wires. Mike, a paramedic/fireman at the time, would frequently stand at the nursery window watching the babies. He always had words of encouragement.
This kind, caring man gave a lot to folks in our community. I miss him.
