Ice Devils finish seasons strong

The 2022-23 youth hockey season has come to an end, but several of the Durango Ice Devil teams experienced lots of success during the year.

The 12U-A team finished its season strong by winning the Colorado Cup March 10-12 in Colorado Springs. The team went 5-0 in the tournament. The championship game against Hyland Hills went into overtime, but Durango prevailed 4-3. Eric Strength, Milo Martin and Pollard Addis scored goals during regulation while Owen Erwin scored the overtime, game-winner with an assist from Strength. Erwin also assisted two goals in the game.

The 12U-A team finished their season 24-5-3 overall with a 273-99 goal differential. Alain Lemieux, assisted by Chris Wood and Ken Martin, coached the team.

The 10U-A team also reached the finals of Colorado Cup, going 4-1 in the tournament and finishing as the runner-up. The team lost to DU in the finals, but finished its season 30-11 overall, with a goal differential of 240-115. Scott Bickert, Brian Capsay and Josh Wright coached the team.

The 10U-B team, coached by Dell Truax, finished their season 11-16-1.

The 12U-B team, coached by Steve Housley, finished 6-17-3.

Durango’s 14U team had a rough season, being a very young and having to compete at the A level, and finished 3-20-2. The team was coached by Todd Fowler.
