The Ignacio High School baseball team capped off an impressive 3-1 week Saturday with a 6-1 win against the Dolores Bears.
Zach Weinreich struck out 12 Dolores batters in a complete game performance. He allowed only three hits and one run, and he walked one batter and hit another with a pitch.
Juanito Median went 3-for-3 at the plate with a run batted in. Kai Roubideaux was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Marcus Chapman went 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch. He scored twice and drove in one run.
Dalton Lebarthe also went 1-for3 and scored a run for the Bobcats (7-8, 5-5 2A District 3/5). Trace Loveless went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and one run scored. Weinreich also added an RBI sacrifice fly to support his own cause.
It was a big win for Ignacio, which beat Pine River Rival and Class 3A foe Bayfield on Tuesday. It backed it up with wins against Class 1A Dove Creek and Saturday’s win against Dolores (5-11, 2-6 2A District 3/5) between a loss against Nucla.
Ignacio will host Montezuma-Cortez at 3 p.m. Thursday before visiting the same Panthers team May 6 to end the regular season.
