Red-hot junior Harmony Reynolds’ fourth goal in three matches gave the no-quit Ignacio Lady Bobcats hope for a second-half comeback Tuesday at home. Visiting Montezuma-Cortez, however, hung on to win their third consecutive outing, 4-1.

“The game was super-frustrating; we were fighting the wind the first half,” said IHS head coach Alisha Gullion. “And the second half, the girls fought so hard – to the last second – to catch up but couldn’t make anything happen.”

“Harmony had a beautiful header into the goal though,” she proudly said.

With Senior Day now history, IHS (1-7, 1-4 2A Southwest) will next resume league work at 4 p.m. Friday at Del Norte, which stood 0-9, 0-4 before hosting 2A Tri-Peaks Leaguers Buena Vista (4-3 overall) the previous afternoon.

M-CHS (4-4, 3-1 3A SWL) got two goals in each half at IHS Field, but exact stats had not been reported by press time. Skippered in 2022 by Reese Smith with Kylee Sitton Ebberts – instructing on Tuesday just 24 hours shy of 10 years after her own Senior Day match in an M-CHS kit – and Omar Amguiano assisting, the Lady Panthers will next play at noon Saturday in Alamosa.

Moose break loose against Bayfield

Alamosa’s Mean Moose improved to 6-4 overall – and a front-running 3-0 in the 3A Southwest League – on Tuesday with a 6-2 road win at Bayfield.

Playing as expected without primary attackers Mattie Moore and Preslie Wagner, Chris Zoltowski’s Lady Wolverines (5-4, 1-3 3A SWL) did get two goals from freshman midfielder/forward Sydney Rey. Rey scored one off an assist from junior Abria Thayer and the other by blocking a clearance attempt by AHS goalie Emily Tibbitts directly into the net.

“Tough break not having Mattie and Preslie,” Zoltowski said. “It was a fun game overall, though; they played hard with limited subs.”

Alamosa junior Abby Wubben reportedly logged a three-goal hat trick, while senior Malia Tuioti-Mariner netted two goals, and junior Micaela Raya, one. Wubben was also credited with an assist, and Tuioti-Mariner two.

BHS will visit Pagosa Springs (4-4, 0-3) at 4 p.m. Friday. The Lady Pirates will take the field after a 6-0 home win Tuesday over the 4A Durango’s JV.
