Sandy Gurule is pleased to announce the opening of Ignacio Counseling.
Her practice is located at 115 Cedar St. in Ignacio, inside the Ignacio Family Medicine building behind the post office.
"I provide individual counseling for adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties with relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, stress, grief/loss, and depression," she said in a press release. "My goal is to create a helping, supportive relationship in which individuals can recognize and utilize their own strengths to overcome life's challenges and take control of their lives."
Gurule grew up in the Durango-Ignacio area and graduated with a master's degree in social work in 2006 from Denver University.
"I have recently been a part of the Fort Lewis College Counseling Center. My background has been in Child Protective Services, collaborating with families in the home, and working with children and adolescents," she said.
Gurule works to provide an affordable means to counseling, with a sliding scale fee for patients.
"I have a meet-and-greet policy in which individuals can schedule to meet with me for 15 minutes free of charge before making an appointment," she wrote. "The goal is for clients to feel welcome, comfortable and supported before choosing to move into a therapeutic relationship."
Individuals can call to make an appointment at 563-9388, visit her website at www.ignaciocounseling.com or facebook page.
