The Ignacio High School football team closed out the season Saturday at home against Center.
On a windy day, the Center running game was far too much for the Bobcats to handle, as Ignacio was shut out 34-0.
IHS quarterback Zach Weinreich threw for 99 yards on 8-for-20 passing with two interceptions.
Center’s backfield ran roughshod over the home team Bobcats. The visitors’ top two backs combined for more 300 yards rushing, and their quarterback added 89 yards.
Overall, the Vikings ran 68 plays, 63 of which were runs.
After going winless in the last two seasons, Ignacio finished the season 3-6 and 1-4 in the 1A Southern Peaks League. It was the team’s best finish since 2011, when the Bobcats won four games.
What seemed to be a promising season after a 2-1 start ended with a number of players quitting the team early.
The Bobcats went from possibly contending for a league title and making the playoffs to losing the final three games.
