The Ignacio High School football team picked up its first win of the season on Friday in a dominant fashion against Wingate (New Mexico).
The Bobcats scored five touchdowns in the first quarter and another two in the second as they cruised to a 46-0 win over the Bears at IHS.
IHS improved to 1-2 overall with the win while Wingate slipped to 2-2.
Devante Montoya caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Zane Pontine to get the scoring going for Ignacio with 9:14 left in the first.
Montoya then picked off a pass and returned it 65 yards for another touchdown.
Nate Hendren, DJ Hendren and Lincoln deKay all followed with touchdown runs of 20 yards or more and IHS led 32-0 after the first quarter.
In the second, Pontine threw 15-yard touchdown pass to Rylan Maez and later Nate Hendren broke free for another long touchdown run of 24 yards.
Pontine also completed a pair of two-point conversions in the game to Maez and Gabe Archuleta for the final margin.
Ignacio will be at home again on Friday against Montezuma-Cortez to close out its nonleague schedule. M-CHS is 1-2 overall after beating Kirtland Central 54-40 on Friday.
