Ignacio girls suffer another defeat

The rough start to the 2013 season continued for the Ignacio High School girls basketball team.

The Bobcats lost 30-21 at Sargent on Saturday in Monte Vista.

Statistics weren’t immediately available.

IHS (1-4) lost its last time out, 66-34 to Shiprock Northwest on Tuesday in Shiprock, N.M.

The Bobcats now have lost two games in a row after a Dec. 7 win over Montezuma-Cortez’s junior varsity.

Ignacio, which made the Class 2A elite eight one year ago behind a band of seniors and then-head coach Justa Whitt, is transitioning this season to Shane Seibel, who recently served as a boys assistant coach.

IHS will travel to Bloomfield, N.M., on Tuesday, then will open its home schedule against Pagosa Springs on Friday.
