Ignacio bounced back from a disappointing loss to Bayfield, but it took a big second half to put away Dolores.
The Igancio High School boys basketball team took a 29-21 lead into halftime but exploded in the second half to take a 64-27 win.
“The first half, we didn’t defend well,” IHS head coach Chris Valdez said. “The help defense wasn’t there, and we got beat off the dribble a little. The second half, Dolores isn’t a good outside shooting team, so we mixed zone in there and kept them from shooting inside shots.”
Nick Herrera had a big game for the Bobcats with 17 points and seven rebounds despite being in foul trouble.
Anthony Manzanares finished with nine points, all in the third quarter. Wyatt Hayes finished with eight points, while 10 of 11 players scored for the Bobcats.
Ignacio is off until Tuesday when it hosts Mancos.
