The Ignacio High School girls volleyball team defeated the visiting Dolores Bears in three sets with the scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.
Many of Ignacio’s team had battled head colds, but, despite many players feeling under the weather, the Bobcats persevered and improved No. 8 Ignacio’s record to 13-4 overall and 10-1 in the 2A/1A San Juan Basin league. The Dolores Bears fell to 8-9 overall and 5-6 in league.
Ignacio was led by junior Kelly Campbell with five solo blocks, three assists and three service aces. Senior Miel Diaz had seven kills, senior Chrystianne Valdez had eight digs and sopohmore Shoshone Thompson recorded 18 assists and had 65 set attempts with zero errors.
Ignacio is at home again when it will face Norwood at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ignacio High School.
