Ignacio’s Jones lights up the Dolores sky

Quarterback throws for 407 yards and five touchdowns in a 50-point shutout

The Ignacio High School football team closed its regular season with a bang Friday night, topping Dolores 50-0 on the road.

Quarterback Adison Jones dissected the Bears’ defense through the air, completing 21-of-33 passes for 407 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.

Adam Herrera had touchdown catches of 93 and 70 yards for Ignacio (6-3, 3-2 Southern Peaks League), while Wyatt Hayes had two touchdown catches, as well. The other touchdown pass went for 59 yards to Clayton Jefferson.

Blaine Mickey had a pair of touchdown runs for the Bobcats and had a fumble recovery on defense.

Nick Herrera recovered a pair of fumbles for Ignacio, and Hayes and Antonio Torres added interceptions.

Monte Vista and Centauri received the automatic playoff bids from the SPL in Class 1A, so Ignacio would have to be selected as one of four at-large teams to qualify for the postseason.
