Ignite gymnasts compete at state meets

Team scores numerous top-10 finishes

Ignite Gymnastics recently competed at the Colorado XCel silver and bronze state championships and most of the team’s gymnasts were able to score a top-10 finish.

At the Colorado XCel Silver State Meet June 2-4 at Colorado Gymnastics Institute in Aurora, Brylee Sutherlin led Ignite with a sixth-place all-around finish (36.15). Sutherlin also finished fifth on beam with a 9.275, sixth on bars with a 9.225 and 10th on vault with an 8.75 in the Child C Group.

Zoe Gingerich finished fourth on her floor routine with a 9.075, eighth on beam with a 9.1, eighth all-around with a 35.325 and 10th on vault with an 8.575 in the Child A Group.

Amelia Gingerich finished fourth on vault with a 9.175 and seventh on floor with a 9.1 in the Child Group 2B.

Melanie Frazee finished sixth on beam with a 9.175 and 10th on bars with a 9.1 in the Junior A1 Age Group.

Maggie Perkerwicz finished ninth all-around with a 35.875 in the Child Group 2A. She also placed ninth vault with an 8.75, 10th on beam with a 9.0 and 10th on floor with a 9.075.

Zoe Wood finished 10th all around with a 34.975 in the Child D Age Group. Wood also finished seventh on floor with a 9.0 and ninth on vault with an 8.75. Paisley Moore competed in the same age group and finished ninth on both the beam (8.85) and floor (8.9).

Regan Zink placed ninth on vault with an 8.675 and Briar Oelschlaeger placed 10th on the beam with an 8.875 in the Child A Age Group.

Sara Eidem placed 11th on floor with a 9.1 in the Child E Age Group.

“This was a very young group for the state meet and many had never been to a meet of this size and importance,” said Ignite coach Liz Herring. “Although they were very nervous, we had many great victories, including four new vaults from Brylee, Amelia, Zoe (Wood) and Sara. Sara and Paisley stuck back walkovers on the beam which is an above level element for them and that made the meet very exciting.”

Ignite also had 14 girls compete in the Colorado XCel Bronze State Meet June 10-11 at Peak Athletics in Highlands Ranch.

Nevaeh Easterday, was the bronze medalist on vault in the Junior A3 Age Group with a 9.175. She also placed seventh on beam with an 8.675 and 10th all around with a 35.10.

Sutton Forsythe won bronze on bars in the Junior A2 Age Group with a 9.4. She also placed fourth on vault (9.2), seventh on beam (8.7), ninth on floor (8.7) and fifth all around (36.00).

Raya Weiss won bronze on beam with an 8.875 in the Junior A2 Age Group. She also placed fifth on floor (9.1), ninth on both vault on bars with 9.0 scores and sixth all around with a 35.975.

London Wolff finished fourth on vault with a 9.1 and eighth on both bars (9.075) and on beam (8.625) in the Junior A3 Group.

Harlynn McCollum finished sixth on vault with a 9.075 in the Junior A3 Age Division.

Zoey Easterday finished seventh on both vault (9.275) and bars (9.25). She also placed 10th on beam (8.5) and 10th all around a 35.325 in the Senior A3 Age Group.

In the Junior A1 Age Group, the youngest competitor in the meet was Aaryanna Easterday and she placed eighth on Floor with an 8,675. Easterday also placed ninth on bars (8.9), 10th on vault (8.7) and eighth all around (34.35). In the same age group Payzlie Price placed eighth on beam (8.2), ninth on vault (8.75), ninth n floor (8.65) and 10th all around (34.125).

Mackenzie Hardesty placed seventh on vault with an 8.825 and Evelyn Pace placed seventh on floor with an 8.775 in Junior A1 Age Group while Jorden Hewitt placed eighth on bars with a 9.0.

Kenzie Newell finished eighth on bars (9.025) and Brooke-Lynn Smith placed 10th on floor with an 8.625 in the Junior A2 Age Group.

Mackenzie Hardesty also attended and finished 15th on vault with an 8.725.

“Out of these young competitors, most had never attended this large a meet and we are so proud of their finishes,” Herring said. “Especially for such a young group … almost the entire group is 7 or younger.”
