Ignite Gymnastics competed in the XCel Bronze and Silver the state meet this past weekend at Active Athletics in Littleton, and returned to Ignacio with some gold, silver and bronze. As a team, Ignite’s silver team also finished fourth out of the 14 squads competing.
“The most exciting thing next to the state champions and placing so many gymnasts, was that the silver team won fourth place team out of 15 teams,” said coach Liz Herring. “We only had seven competitors and almost every other team had 10 to 30 members. They take the top-three event scores so we only had seven scores to choose from while the other teams had dozens to take from, especially in the top-three teams. This is a huge accomplishment for our little team. We were over the moon!”
