Ignore distractions and focus on issues

I have to say it: We need to listen to President-Elect Trump and stop it.

We have to stop attacking each other. We have to start listening to each other or they will win. “They” being the government, the political machine that wants to distract us from what’s really important and keep us fighting like spoiled brats.

We have to remember what Hillary Clinton said, “We are stronger together.” That, my friends, is the only way we will keep the America that we love.

Angry at the protesters? Have you put aside your anger and asked them about their fears? Fears that are sadly coming true. All over, minorities are being targeted. Even our veterans aren’t immune to discrimination by extreme Trump supporters. For some, Trump winning the electoral college validated bullying; it gave the green light to misogyny and racism.

I know not all Trump supporters feel this way. Many have fears of their own and were so scared and lost that voting for someone who is more corrupt than most politicians somehow seemed the only thing they could do. Instead of political corruption, we have someone who is morally corrupt, reneges on paying his bills, is a sexual predator and, let’s face it, is a bit of a thug.

Maybe that was the allure? Men and women falling for the bad boy persona. My apologies, but it is hard to stop it. It really is hard to wrap my head around people voting for someone like that. But people did, and we may not understand it but we have to accept it, and for those that voted for Trump because of their own fears, we need to listen to them and hope they listen to us.

We have to hope that they will stand with us against any attacks on minorities and say that is not acceptable, that is not what our country is all about. We need to stay focused on the real issues our country now faces and not ridiculous things like #Trumpcup that serve only to distract from what is important.
