IHS third in the SJBL

Bobcats wrestle one final tuneup before regionals

The San Juan Basin League Tournament gave the Ignacio High School wrestling team one more chance to face tough competition before regionals.

The Bobcats finished in third place at the league tournament Thursday in Dove Creek.

Norwood took first place and Dove Creek second place.

Stocker Robbins went 1-1 at 106 pounds, Ethan Appenzeller 0-1 at 126 pounds, Colton Logan 0-2 at 132 pounds, Lorenzo Peña 1-1 at 138 pounds, Timmy Plehinger 1-1 at 145 pounds, Blaine Mickey 2-0 at 170 pounds, Christian Knoll 1-1 at 195 pounds and Josh Gallegos 1-1 at 220 pounds.

“We’re in a pretty tough league and got some tough matches,” IHS head coach Cody Haga said. “That’s all you can ask for.”

IHS next will wrestle at regionals Friday in Grand Junction.

“We’re going to continue pushing hard and working hard in the practice room preparing ourselves mentally and physically for our competition,” Haga said. “Hopefully we can qualify some boys for state.”
