Ignacio schools hand out bobcat bucks to students who they feel are deserving of the token that can be used at area businesses. The program has evolved and changed slightly every year for the last six years to continuously keep students engaged.
Character Counts is a national educational model that works to establish a positive school climate and instill critical academic, social and emotional skills, as well as core character traits. Ignacio School District uses the model as part of its effort to reduce bullying. It also creates a connection among students and school staff, said Ignacio High School student Elizabeth Valdez.
