The city of Durango will conduct in-river maintenance near the Animas River access at 29th Street at the south end of Memorial Park starting Monday.
The work will repair erosion damage and stabilize the area along the riverbank and boulder structure to minimize future erosion.
The gravel lot at the corner of 29th Street and East Third Avenue will be closed during construction. Animas River Trail users will be rerouted to the 29th Street sidewalk for a short section. The asphalt parking lot at 29th Street and East Third Avenue and the two river access points directly downriver of the work area will be open.
The contractor anticipates the in-river work will be complete by the end of April.
