This county has a huge, dirty secret. Rapists walk our streets without any fear of being held accountable for their crimes. Most people think rape rarely happens in La Plata County, but they are wrong.
It’s possible you’re unaware of these dangers because the government tells us that violent crime is down and most rapes aren’t reported in the paper. It happens frequently and the perpetrators are getting bolder and younger. No place in our community is safe for children and ladies. Not schools, parks or the river trail. You can’t shop without the fear of being violated. You aren’t even safe at home at night.
Chances are someone you love will be assaulted. Will you believe them?
Will you encourage them to report the crime? How will you feel sitting with them during a rape exam, watching their soul die before your eyes and hearing them repeat the details for law enforcement? How will you feel when they endure a traumatic, grueling trial only to have the offender declared “not guilty,” free to continue their rape with the community’s blessing?
Welcome to the nightmare!
Until society values its children and ladies as much as sexual offenders, nothing will change. Our society pays rapists millions to play sports and has even elected a president who proudly brags about molesting women!
Keep your “parts” to yourself!
